The documentary “My soul is in a hurry” tells the story of Nicolas Gentile, known to many as "the Italian Hobbit." After facing difficult times in his life, Nicolas decided to pursue an unconventional dream: creating a real "Contea" inspired by Tolkien's world in the Abruzzo countryside.
The film, directed by Giuseppe Contarino, isn't just a fantasy story; it explores the desire to rediscover a more authentic, slower life, connected to nature. Through the testimonies of friends, family, and participants in Contea Gentile events, a portrait emerges of a community built on sharing, imagination, and the value of human connections.
The documentary also follows some of Nicolas's most symbolic experiences, such as the famous walk inspired by Frodo's journey and the construction, year after year, of a real hobbit village immersed in the greenery of Abruzzo. More than just a passion for The Lord of the Rings, the project becomes a reflection on time, dreams and the search for happiness in an increasingly frenetic society.
According to the authors, this is precisely the heart of the film: to demonstrate that even a seemingly impossible dream can transform into something concrete and capable of uniting people.
