La Contea Gentile and the art of living in harmony. When dreams come true with your hands in the earth.
There are places that seem to have come from a fairy tale, yet they really exist.
Places where the air smells of chopped wood, time passes more slowly, and happiness is not a destination, but a shared journey.
One of these is La Contea Gentile, the little world created by Nicolas Gentile, a dreamer with his feet (and hands) firmly planted in the land of Abruzzo.
During an interview with the microphones of Radio Delta 1, Nicolas tells with disarming simplicity the secret of his harmony: “Dreams are nice to have, but if you don’t roll up your sleeves and put in the will to make them come true, it’s difficult for them to come true.” His voice has that concrete calm of someone who knows the hard work, but also the profound joy of doing.

Contentment, not happiness
In a world that chases happiness as if it were a trophy, Nicolas speaks of something truer, more lasting: the contentment. “Happiness may not exist,” he says, “it's just small dots on the line of life. But contentment does, and it can last a lifetime if you manage to roll up your sleeves… with a smile.” It's a hobbit philosophy, made of hands dirty with earth, tables laden with food, simple laughter and shared silences. It's an invitation to slow down, to build, to live each day as a small gift to be treasured together with others.
Save your piece of the world
“I'm no one special,” smiles Nicolas. “I'm just another Tom, ...
We are the heroes
And then, as in a fairy tale that ends with a promise, comes the final invitation: “Don't give up. Feel like heroes, because you are. We already live in a wonderful world: it's up to us to save it.” The words of Nicolas Gentile aren't just a story: they're a gentle reminder to rediscover lost harmony. To build, to share, to live slowly and with gratitude. Because yes—dreams can come true. But only if we're willing to get our hands a little dirty, and do it with a smile.
