To Nicolas,
guardian of a place that makes real
what for many remains only imagined. There are worlds that are born from a page
and worlds that someone, with care, actually decides to cross. This is not just the story of a donated work.
It is the story of a guarded threshold.“On the Threshold of Rivendell”
a roundel that enters the Contea Gentile
like a door that opens
without making any noise. The circle is not a formal choice.
It is the hobbit door that welcomes,
the elven geometry that harmonizes,
the ancient memory of the Renaissance
which guards what is intimate and luminous.
A gap.
A breath.Marco Manni spent months working on this work.
The light that comes down,
the flowing water,
the waterfalls that rise like columns,
and that subtle feeling
of being between two worlds
they emerged with a rare truth,
silent. That this threshold towards Gran Rivendell
find a home in your Contea
and continue to keep the dialogue open
with the world born from the vision of
John Ronald Reuel Tolkien. When Nicolas received the work he said:
“Tolkien inspired so many people.
What I'm doing with the Contea
it's the same thing as what Marco Manni does with his art.
He took the idea of a man who created a world
and he's making it tangible, real.
He puts his art, his love, his passion into it
to make something real, tangible.
The Contea and Marco's art
they are practically the same thing.”Marco and Nicolas share something rare:
Tolkien's world saved their lives.
And today, through art,
that salvation continues to walk.A work.
A place.
A passage. Thanks to those who recognize the thresholds
and chooses to keep them
instead of closing them. And it doesn't end there.
From March 20th to 22nd,
Contea Gentile will become threshold and home
for Marco Manni's solo exhibition.
